Job Description

A warm and nurturing primary school in Brighton is seeking a dedicated Early Years Practitioner to join their Early Years team on a long-term supply basis. The school prides itself on providing a supportive and engaging environment where children feel safe, valued, and inspired to learn. This is a long-term supply position within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), offering consistency and the opportunity to become a valued member of the school community. You will play a key role in supporting children's early development through play-based learning, helping to create a stimulating and inclusive environment that supports each child's individual needs.

Job Responsibility

  • Support the delivery of the EYFS curriculum through engaging, play-based activities
  • Assist in creating a safe, nurturing, and stimulating learning environment
  • Support children's social, emotional, and educational development
  • Observe, monitor, and record children's progress in line with EYFS requirements
  • Work with small groups and provide 1:1 support where needed
  • Assist with the preparation of activities and learning resources
  • Support children with personal care where required
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents

Requirements

  • Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years / Childcare (or equivalent) – essential
  • Previous experience working within an EYFS setting
  • Good understanding of the EYFS framework
  • A caring, patient, and enthusiastic approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to create a positive and engaging learning environment
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)

Nice to have

  • Level 3 qualification (preferred)
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child development best practices
