Job Description:

As the ELC Cook, you will support children’s health and wellbeing by preparing nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks while maintaining strong food safety and hygiene standards. Working closely with the Centre Director and Educators, you will help create positive mealtime experiences in a warm, inclusive environment. This is a fantastic opportunity to help establish a new centre and make a meaningful difference for children and families in the local community.

Job Responsibility:

  • support children's health and wellbeing by preparing nutritious, high-quality meals and snacks while maintaining strong food safety and hygiene standards
  • working closely with the Centre Director and Educators to help create positive mealtime experiences in a warm, inclusive environment

Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Food Handling or equivalent qualification (preferred but not essential)
  • certifications including First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis, and Child Protection Training or willingness to obtain
  • a current Working with Children Check
  • experience preparing nutritious meals and managing kitchen operations in early childhood, education, health or community settings
  • strong knowledge of food safety legislation, hygiene standards and allergy management requirements
  • excellent organisation, communication and time management skills, including stock control and ordering
  • ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team environment
  • a strong commitment to child safety, wellbeing and inclusive, culturally responsive practices
