An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Early Intervention Officer to join a leading Housing Association in Manchester, supporting income recovery and tenancy sustainment by managing low-level arrears and delivering proactive customer-focused interventions.
Job Responsibility:
Manage rent, service charge and sundry debt accounts up to court stage across multiple tenures
Proactively contact customers via phone, email and digital platforms to secure payments and reduce arrears
Provide basic welfare benefits advice and liaise with Housing Benefit and DWP where required
Ensure compliance with pre-action protocols and Equality Act requirements prior to legal escalation
Handle inbound and outbound income-related enquiries, working collaboratively with Customer Services
Maintain accurate records and complete income-related administrative tasks
Work with internal teams and external agencies to deliver holistic support and maximise collection performance
Requirements:
Previous experience in a similar Income Officer, Rent Recovery Officer or Arrears Management role within social housing
Experience managing rent arrears and negotiating repayment arrangements
Strong customer service skills with the ability to be assertive yet supportive
Good working knowledge of welfare benefits and income maximisation
Experience liaising with external partners such as DWP and local authorities
Confident IT user with Microsoft Office skills and experience using housing management systems
