Bismarck Public Schools is accepting applications for an Early Childhood Special Education Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year. This position entails casemanaging and teaching morning and afternoon class sessions of children ages 3 to 6 who qualify for an Individual Education Program. Typically developing peers are also integrated into the classroom. This position will start August 14th, 2026. New Teacher Orientation will be held August 11th, 12th and 13th. A teaching contract is 187 days.
Job Responsibility:
Casemanaging and teaching morning and afternoon class sessions of children ages 3 to 6 who qualify for an Individual Education Program
Integrate typically developing peers into the classroom
Lead students toward the fulfillment of their potential for physical, intellectual, and social-emotional growth and maturation
Communicate and interact with students, parents, staff, and community
Provide an atmosphere and environment conducive to the intellectual, physical, social, and the emotional development of children
Develop, select, and modify instructional plans and materials to meet the needs of all students
Plan and provide for appropriate learning experiences for students
Monitor and evaluate student outcomes
Supervise students in a variety of school-related settings
Maintain appropriate records and follow required procedures and practices
Assess the accomplishments of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required
Prepare daily lesson plans
Strive to maintain and improve professional competence
Monitor appropriate use and care of equipment, materials, and facilities
Meet and instruct assigned classes in the locations and at the times designated by the immediate supervisor
Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor
Assist the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct
Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure
Maintain order in the classroom and on the campus in a fair and just manner
Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
Attend and participate in faculty meetings
Assist in the selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials
Establish and maintain cooperative relations with other staff members
Provide for his/her own professional growth through an ongoing program of reading, workshops, seminars, conferences, and/or advanced course work at institutions of higher learning complying with Bismarck Public Schools’ professional growth program
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in any area of Special Education
Valid ND teaching certificate
Valid ND credential in Early Childhood Special Education
