Job Description:

Justteachers is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic EAL (English as an Additional Language) Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive school from January. This full-time role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils who are learning English and helping them to thrive both academically and socially. You will work closely with class teachers and the wider support team to help pupils access the curriculum, build confidence in English, and fully engage in school life. This role is going to be starting in January 2026.

Job Responsibility:

  • Provide targeted EAL support to pupils individually and in small groups
  • Support pupils’ language development, comprehension, and communication skills
  • Help adapt learning materials to meet the needs of EAL learners
  • Encourage confidence, inclusion, and positive participation in the classroom
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and families where appropriate

Requirements:

  • Experience working with EAL learners in a school setting (essential or desirable)
  • Strong communication skills and a supportive, patient approach
  • Commitment to inclusive education and pupil progress
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
  • Two relevant references, ideally from an educational setting
  • Must meet the minimum experience, training or qualifications stated
  • Must have the legal right to work in the UK
  • An enhanced DBS including a children’s barred list check and where applicable a vulnerable adults barred list check is required
