This beneficial teaching opportunity, based at City Academy in Bristol, will involve planning and delivering both 1:1 and small group interventions outside a student's main timetable. The post holder may work with different year groups but generally support the same student/students weekly. Sitting within our established SEND team, this role is offered to a qualified, or non-qualified teacher looking to make a meaningful impact on some of our students lives. Requirements:
hold the relevant experience to teach students with Dyslexia in a classroom
a qualified teacher (desirable), hold an equivalent teaching qualification
able to meet the needs of learners from key identified groups, including pupil premium, looked after children, SEND and High Attaining students
a strong communicator with the ability to embrace change, motivate colleagues and build positive relationships with students, staff and parents
able to recognise, value and support the delivery of opportunities which extend beyond the confines of classroom delivery and seek to enrich and add value to the students experience & learning
empowered to develop your own expert practice and support the development of others
Nice to have:
Qualified Teacher Status
Completion of a postgraduate-level course at or equivalent to Level 7, including at least 100 hours relating to individual specialist assessment of learners with Dyslexia/SpLD, or Exam Access Arrangements
Holding a current SpLD Assessment Practising Certificate, as awarded by BDA, the Dyslexia Guild, or Patoss and listed on the SASC website. This should include a strong understanding of the theoretical basis underlying psychometric tests
