We are seeking an enthusiastic and proactive Duty Manager to join our team and play a key role in ensuring the smooth day‑to‑day running of our Centre. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong leadership skills, a commitment to high-quality customer service, and experience working in a leisure environment. As a Duty Manager, you will act as a right hand person to the Area General Manager/Centre Manager and be responsible for supervising staff, maintaining operational standards, ensuring customer safety, and acting as the Centre’s representative when responding to customer queries, compliments and complaints. You’ll be a key holder, safeguarding lead, and an essential part of delivering an excellent, family‑friendly service.
Job Responsibility:
Oversee the daily operation of the Centre on a rota basis
Ensure the building is opened and closed safely and punctually
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and customer experience
Support technical and operational routines, including plant operations and emergency procedures
Supervise, support and motivate duty staff
Ensure safe working practices and maintain high levels of staff performance
Conduct staff meetings, appraisals and contribute to training coordination
Take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary
Act as the Centre’s ambassador, ensuring all visitors receive a warm and professional service
Address customer concerns, complaints and compliments in a timely, diplomatic manner
Promote a welcoming, family-friendly environment
Act as a trained First Aid Officer
Ensure the Centre and surrounding areas remain safe, compliant, and well maintained
Support emergency situations and implement emergency action plans
Work within allocated budgets and support the achievement of KPIs
Oversee stock control and safe storage of materials
Ensure compliance with company procedures and reporting requirements
Requirements:
GCSEs (grade C or equivalent) in Maths and English
National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ)
First Aid at Work qualification
Basic IT skills
Previous supervisory or managerial experience
Experience working in a leisure centre environment
Strong communication, leadership and customer care skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to work on a rota including evenings, weekends and emergency call‑outs
Nice to have:
Leisure industry or NVQ Level 3 qualification
Pool plant operations knowledge
Experience coordinating events
Food hygiene, health & safety and COSHH knowledge
