This role at a leading global pharmaceutical company focuses on driving strategic pricing decisions that safeguard business value and accelerate patient access to products. The position involves shaping pro-innovation pricing frameworks through collaboration with the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare (MHLW) and industry stakeholders, while also managing pricing strategies for the company's portfolio.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and execute National Health Insurance (NHI) pricing strategies for new drugs, including preparing dossiers and leading negotiations with the MHLW
Build strong alignment and partnerships among cross-functional and global teams to ensure optimal price setting
Develop price assumptions and scenario plans for pipeline and inline assets, as well as business development opportunities, while monitoring competitor pricing, policy changes, and market trends
Actively participate in trade association activities to help establish pro-innovation pricing frameworks
Coach and mentor team members to foster collaboration and a culture of open communication
Requirements:
Approximately 5 years or more of experience with a deep understanding of the Japanese healthcare system and NHI pricing rules, with proven ability to lead pricing negotiations
Demonstrated innovative and creative strategic thinking with strong problem-solving capabilities in complex policy environments
Strong teamwork, executive communication, and negotiation skills to effectively influence both internal and external stakeholders
Fluency in Japanese and business-level English is required to facilitate cross-border collaboration
Proven agility and creativity when navigating complex pricing and policy environments
