Job Description

We are currently seeking candidates for a Drug Authorization Specialist position with a highly respected and innovative Boston hospital known for its exceptional patient care and groundbreaking research. This role offers an outstanding opportunity to launch a career in healthcare administration and patient services. This is a 3–6 month contract opportunity paying $20–$22 per hour, based in Boston, MA.

Job Responsibility

  • Perform pre-registration of new patients by making and receiving calls to collect and document patient demographics, financial details, and other personal information
  • Verify patient identification and update insurance or demographic data as needed
  • Manage referral and authorization information for assigned patients
  • Communicate with physicians and medical providers to clarify clinical details
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all daily activities in the hospital information system
  • Support departmental operations and contribute to a positive patient experience through effective communication and attention to detail

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Science, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (preferred)
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in healthcare administration, health insurance, medical policy review, nursing, or allied health
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience with Epic is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling confidential patient information with professionalism
