Job Description:

The Driver Assistant supports the Delivery Driver in the safe, efficient, and timely delivery of goods to customer locations. The role focuses primarily on assisting with offloading, handling, and placement of goods at customer premises while ensuring product integrity, accuracy, and adherence to safety standards.

Job Responsibility:

  • Assist the Delivery Driver with the offloading of goods from delivery vehicles
  • Safely transport goods from the truck into customer locations, following customer instructions where applicable
  • Ensure goods are handled carefully to prevent damage, spoilage, or loss
  • Assist in verifying delivery quantities against delivery documents
  • Obtain customer signatures or confirmation of deliveries when required
  • Support the Driver in maintaining cleanliness and order within the delivery vehicle
  • Adhere to health, safety, and security procedures at all times
  • Assist with the return of empty pallets or rejected items as required
  • Report any delivery issues, damages, shortages, or customer concerns to the Driver or Supervisor
  • Provide general assistance with loading and unloading of trucks as required

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in the delivery of goods
  • Knowledge of the FMCG industry
  • A valid open general driver’s license
  • Ability to perform manual lifting and handling
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Good verbal communication
  • Training in Food Safety and Hygiene
