Job Description:

Provides Basic Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured; responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily injury; maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency; provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel; performs other duties as required.

Job Responsibility:

Provides Basic Life Support including medical evaluation, treatment and stabilization of the critically ill and injured
Responds to emergency rescue situations involving potential loss of life or bodily injury
Maintains control, manages and directs patient care at the scene of a pre-hospital emergency
Provides training and instruction to lesser trained personnel
Provides and directs fast, efficient Basic Life Support utilizing all basic abilities and techniques
Recognizes and understands a medical emergency and makes reasonable differential diagnosis
Performs critical physical examinations
Understands pharmacological treatment of critically ill and injured patients
Understands potentially life-threatening presentation of non-cardiac emergencies and institutes appropriate emergency therapy
Deals with medical and emotional needs of any victim of acute illness or injury
Responsible for managing and directing all first responders at the scene
Responsible for quality patient-care as established by the Company
Files standardized reports of patient information and care
Maintains effective communication with physician on duty
Follows standard written protocols when a physician cannot be contacted
Transports the ill and injured to institutions of medical care
Operates emergency vehicles in a safe manner under all conditions
Cleans and maintains equipment
Properly completes patient statistics and medical information forms
Performs technical rescues in removing victims from varied terrain and circumstances
Follows standard operating policies and procedures
Cleans and maintains vehicles
Cleans and maintains living quarters
Maintains records of vehicles, supplies, training and daily work

Requirements:

EMR Licensure
CPR for the Health Care Provider
Emergency Driving Certification with ongoing driving training
Good knowledge of the street systems, addresses and physical layout of the area
Good knowledge of rescue equipment and emergency medical equipment used in Basic Life Support
Good ability to perform technical medical skills with a high degree of accuracy
Good ability to understand and effectively deal with emotional and medical needs of victims
Good ability to maintain a professional and objective approach
Good ability to learn new concepts in rescue and medical skills
Good ability to perform mechanical work for testing and maintaining equipment
Good ability to direct the work of and teach other personnel
Good ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
Good ability to maintain a professional attitude when representing the Company
Good ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
Good ability to drive and operate emergency ambulance units
Good ability to author reports with narrative and numeric information
Must attend sufficient continuing education classes, courses, and seminars to maintain annual certification
Must be able to operate emergency medical vehicles, move medical equipment, and extract injured persons
Must be able to carry or help carry someone from the injury site to the transportation
Must be able to see, hear, and communicate with the injured party
Must wear Company issued uniforms while on duty
Must be responsible for maintenance and cleaning of uniforms and issued equipment
Must carry a Company issued pager/radio at all times
