The Drilling Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, execution, and monitoring of drilling and completion programs to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective operations. This role requires close collaboration with operations and multidisciplinary teams to meet well objectives while maintaining the highest standards of engineering integrity, safety, and environmental compliance.
Job Responsibility
Plan, design, and oversee drilling and completion programs to ensure safe and efficient execution
Analyze offset well data to identify potential drilling hazards and risks
Develop well plans based on geological and reservoir objectives
Prepare cost estimates and evaluate design alternatives
Define and coordinate equipment and material requirements for drilling operations
Ensure well designs comply with applicable regulatory standards
Evaluate and analyze technical bids for goods and services
Monitor daily drilling operations and provide engineering support and recommendations
Perform rig site surveillance and assess critical drilling and completion activities
Support equipment testing, new procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives
Collaborate with operations teams to ensure feasibility and efficiency of well plans
Work cross-functionally with geology, reservoir, and project teams to align on objectives and execution strategies
Provide technical input for deepwater operations when applicable (including subsea systems, riser analysis, and well control systems)
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field
Minimum of 5 years of experience in drilling engineering and/or drilling operations, including surveillance activities
Strong analytical and technical capabilities in drilling engineering
Proven ability to communicate effectively with both engineering and operations teams (verbal and written)
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Willingness to work day or night shifts on a rotational schedule
Nice to have
Experience or knowledge in borehole management (e.g., hole cleaning, wellbore stability)
Experience with deepwater drilling operations
Familiarity with well design and planning software
