Job Description:

Reporting to the Senior Drill & Blast Engineer, this role will support with the planning, optimising, and monitoring of Drill and Blast (D&B) activities. This role is also accountable for the design of drill and blast patterns whilst ensuring compliance to the D&B management plan, environmental regulations and managing costs. This is a permanent full-time role based at our Pilgangoora Operation in the Pilbara region, which operates on an 8:6 FIFO roster from Perth or DIDO in the Pilbara region.

Job Responsibility:

  • Support the planning, design and execution of drill and blast patterns in line with production plans, safety standards and regulatory requirements
  • Assist with monitoring, reconciliation and reporting of drilling and blasting performance, including compliance, costs, fragmentation and QA/QC outcomes
  • Work closely with Mining, Production and Technical Services teams to ensure drill and blast activities align with short-term mine plans and operational requirements
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, trials and optimisation opportunities to improve blast performance, safety and efficiency
  • Maintain accurate data entry, validation and technical analysis across drill and blast systems and software
  • Promote a strong safety and environmental culture by complying with D&B management plans, site procedures and environmental obligations

Requirements:

  • Degree qualified in Mining Engineering or a related discipline, with hands-on experience in drill and blast activities within an open pit mining environment
  • Practical experience supporting drill and blast design, monitoring and performance reconciliation, with a strong focus on safety, compliance and cost control
  • Proficient in mine design and drill and blast software (preferably Vulcan) with strong data management and technical analysis skills
  • Confident communicator who works effectively with Mining, Production and Technical Services teams to deliver operational outcomes
  • Detail-oriented, organised and motivated, with a proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational efficiency
  • Committed to maintaining high standards in safety, environmental compliance and adherence to site procedures and D&B management plans
