Job Description:

We are currently supporting our client with Domiciliary Carer positions in Grimsby. You will be joining a local registered charity with a large community presence, supporting a broad range of vulnerable people. This is a unique opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of individuals in the community.

Job Responsibility:

  • To provide support to service users identified within their person-centred support plan
  • To undertake domestic and cleaning duties in the home whilst supporting service users independence, as identified within their person-centred support plan
  • To support service users with all activities of daily living and personal care including personal hygiene needs, nutrition, mobility and any other activity identified
  • To undertake and support service users with shopping and cooking
  • To be pro-active in supporting service users to engage with community activities, diversionary activities and therapeutic interventions to improve their health and well-being and reduce social isolation
  • To maintain contemporaneous computerised records and ensure care plans are accurate in accordance with the relevant policies and guidelines
  • The role requires flexible working, the hours will be generally within the hours of 7am – 10pm 7 days a week
  • To undertake any other duties that are deemed necessary by the Team Leader/Registered Manager
  • To have awareness and understanding relating to assistance technology and a willing to assist with its implementation
  • Medication administration and collection as required

Requirements:

  • Must hold a UK Driving Licence
  • A basic knowledge / understanding of Health and Social Care
  • GCSE or level 2 Functional Skills in Maths, English, and IT or working towards
  • A Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care, or willing to work towards a Level 2 qualification in Health & Social Care
  • A strong desire and ability to care and support others
  • An interest in and commitment to on-going personal/professional development
  • Basic IT knowledge
  • Experience in support work, either in employment or personal
  • Has empathy, patience and understanding in relation to those individuals and families needing care and support
  • Respects and understands the need for confidentiality
  • Ability to respond to the individual rights/needs/opinions of service users
  • Ability to maintain a safe environment for residents/carers and staff
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • An awareness of health and safety in the workplace.
  • The ability to co-ordinate and facilitate groups
  • Can listen and talk to people, some of whom will have difficulties in communicating their wishes and feelings
  • Flexibility required to meet Service needs
