Job Description:

Full-time staff attorney position in Juneau to provide legal assistance to victims of domestic violence, funded by a U.S. Department of Justice grant. The project prioritizes services to Alaska Native/American Indian victims and victims experiencing disabilities.

Job Responsibility:

  • Serve clients experiencing domestic violence, sexual assault, and stalking
  • Appear in state and tribal court civil proceedings involving family law, housing, consumer protection, public benefits, and health care
  • Help develop new alternative dispute resolution options appropriate for trauma survivors
  • Work as part of a three-person team including a legal advocate and counselor

Requirements:

  • Admitted to practice law in Alaska or admitted to practice in another state and eligible for an Alaska Bar Rule 43 waiver
  • Computer proficiency (Windows operating system, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Internet, e-mail and data entry)
  • Experience in working with individuals experiencing trauma, and physical and mental disabilities
