Job Description:

We have a part time domestic support worker post (band 2) 20 hrs working 5 out of 7 on a pro rota within our tukes/navigo domestics team, working across all our navigo sites. The role is instrumental to the success of the whole of the TUKES team to ensure that the ethos of TUKES can reach its full potential as part of a bigger picture.

Job Responsibility:

  • Work as part of a domestic team in achieving and maintaining high infection control standards in all inpatient facilities
  • Ensure daily communication between the team is recorded, cleaning cupboards kept clean and well maintained and any minor problems dealt with in a timely manner
  • Ensure sites are of hospital standard, recording and reporting issues to the Domestic team Supervisor
  • Assist in the smooth operation of the laundry function including the laundering and ironing of all non-personal items
  • Be flexible in both hours and travel as there will be occasions when required to work on different sites
  • Ensure Health and Safety at Work Act and COSHH regulations are met
  • Play a significant role in Tukes members support programme ensuring they are adequately supported and are in receipt of the correct level training
  • Undertake a wide range of duties in relation to domestic services on both acute and community sites
  • Ensure that any additional requests from the sites are dealt with efficiently and effectively
  • Conduct yourself in a friendly, efficient and approachable manner
  • Attend and meet Navigo mandatory training standards and any other training as required
  • Deal with minor problems on the site, reporting any issues which may escalate
  • Work professionally as part of the bigger team which is NAViGO
  • Provide support for meaningful occupation of time and work placement training to assist in the development of our service users

Requirements:

  • General education
  • General IT experience
  • Domestic Experience
  • Working Knowledge Ordering and Stock Control
  • Ability to work to high standards within restrictive timescales
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Good attitude and approachable
  • Flexible approach to working environment
  • Willingness to undertake further training as required

  • First Aid trained or willing to work towards if required by area of service
  • Manual Handling
  • Respect trained or willing to work towards
  • COSHH Knowledge
  • Working within a hospital/mental health environment
  • Team Leading qualification or equivalent experience
  • Working knowledge of healthcare facilities
  • Demonstrate an understanding of the needs of people with mental health problems
  • Ability to work under pressure and be able to prioritise/meet deadlines
  • Ability and willingness to undertake other duties within area of competence
  • Demonstrates self-confidence and good attitude
