Job Description:

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Domestic Abuse and Interpersonal Violence Team as we expand our existing service provision. In recognition of the prevalence and complexity of domestic abuse we are recruiting to 10 newly developed Domestic Abuse Specialist Practitioner posts. The service will offer a whole family, tiered approach to domestic abuse, supporting all levels of risk.

Job Responsibility:

  • Based in one of the 10 Districts of Birmingham offering group work to families screened as low and medium risk domestic abuse or provide 121 work for high risk domestic abuse across the city
  • Take a lead in their area for planning, delivering and managing specialist domestic abuse group work programmes for families affected by domestic abuse or hold a small caseload of complex families where domestic abuse risk is high
  • Act as the lead practitioner where required
  • Provide specialist advice and guidance to Early Help and Social Work colleagues in the District
  • Deliver a rolling programme of Domestic Abuse Training
  • Contribute to evaluation reports

Requirements:

  • Extensive experience of working in a domestic abuse setting
  • Understanding of working with children, young people and their families
  • Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject
  • Significant experience and knowledge to identify risk, develop safety planning and disruption strategies
  • Confident in using a range of IT applications and accessing databases
  • Strong record keeping skills
  • Solution focussed, calm under pressure and work autonomously but know when to escalate matters of concern
