Job Description:

The Platform Technology area is looking to recruit a Domain Lead for the Google Platform Team. Google Cloud is a rapidly developing area for Admiral, delivering key projects in 2025 and beyond. The successful candidate will provide both technical leadership and pastoral care for a growing team that will play an important part in Admiral’s cloud strategy, working alongside other Domain Leads in Platform Services.

Job Responsibility:

  • Enable the delivery of the Google Cloud platform and services
  • Deliver a standard set of services and tools that are secure, compliant with Admiral standards and policies, and can be easily consumed by other tribes and engineering teams
  • Create the right environment to attract, assess and retain top engineering talent, including developing relevant compensation packages and enabling engineers to continuously maintain and improve their technical and non-technical skills
  • Keep abreast of technology developments in the google ecosystem, anticipate the benefit to Admiral, and drive the development of new features and functions
  • Lead individuals and groups through significant strategic technology changes and/or during times of organisational change
  • Assist the team in achieving their objectives and key results
  • Provide technical leadership for the Google Cloud Platform Team and to wider teams
  • Line management duties for Technical Leads and Engineers with a view to focussing on coaching and mentoring techniques that align to both agile principles and Admiral values
  • Collaborate with Platform Services technical leadership team and wider teams to understand demand and resource requirements
  • Accountable for maintaining and facilitating team level resource plans, forecasts future resource requirements, working with the Service Owner, Technical Lead, and Scrum Master to agree future resourcing strategies
  • Develop and drive the platform to support Admiral’s strategic aims
  • Ensure platforms are secure, continuously compliant, and maintained to meet Group Minimum Standards
  • Owns and is accountable for KPIs/OKRs for the team and maximises the team’s ability to deliver these
  • Lead the Google Platform function and mentor and inspire engineers
  • Drive collaboration and a continuous improvement mind-set across the team
  • Embed productivity, quality, transparency and openness as core values
  • Manage the career development for the GCP engineering function: Establish a clear career structure for engineers with career levels, competencies, and salary bands defined
  • Develop training plans to support career development

Requirements:

  • Experienced leader able to lead calmly through periods of high pressure whilst inspiring people and teams to achieve excellence and grow their skills
  • Knowledge and experience operating within enterprise scale network technology
  • Knowledge and experience (5yrs+) operating within: Building and managing cloud services and resources

  • Experience and awareness of CISO governance frameworks, standards, controls, and auditing documentation covering both business and technology solutions currently within product backlogs
  • Extensive experience with project management fundamentals with the ability to apply principles, tools and techniques to develop/plan, manage or execute projects to ensure successful completion
