We are looking for an experienced Divisional/Plant Controller to join our team on a contract basis in St. Louis, Missouri. This role involves conducting a detailed review of financial accounts and reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance ahead of potential buyer due diligence. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a proven background in financial reporting and balance sheet analysis.
Job Responsibility:
Conduct a comprehensive month-over-month analysis of balance sheet accounts to identify discrepancies, unusual trends, and variances
Review and validate account reconciliations for accuracy, completeness, and proper supporting documentation
Perform in-depth analysis of critical financial categories such as accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory, fixed assets, and accrued liabilities
Ensure all reconciliations align with the general ledger and are audit-ready
Analyze the impact of balance sheet adjustments on profit and loss accounts, ensuring the accuracy of accruals, amortization, and reserves
Identify and correct errors through adjusting journal entries while proposing process improvements for financial reporting
Prepare detailed summary reports for leadership and external advisors, highlighting findings and recommendations
Conduct variance analysis across financial statements to pinpoint unusual patterns and areas of concern
Support cleanup efforts by rebuilding reconciliation templates and ensuring corrected periods roll forward seamlessly
Recommend and implement improvements to strengthen financial controls and reporting processes
Requirements:
Proven experience in balance sheet review and account reconciliation
Strong expertise in financial reporting and manufacturing cost accounting
Proficiency in month-end close processes and controllership responsibilities
Excellent analytical skills with advanced proficiency in Excel
Familiarity with audit procedures and financial due diligence
Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
Background in optimizing monthly financial close processes
Strong attention to detail and ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
