Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Divisional/Plant Controller to join our team in central Michigan. In this long-term contract position, you will play a vital role in overseeing financial operations, ensuring accurate reporting, and improving processes to drive efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with manufacturing teams and contribute to the success of a dynamic plant environment.

Job Responsibility:

  • Manage month-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
  • Oversee manufacturing cost accounting activities, ensuring proper allocation and tracking of costs
  • Conduct detailed reviews of balance sheet accounts and profit and loss statements to ensure accuracy
  • Provide guidance to the cost accounting team, helping them translate technical accounting concepts into actionable insights
  • Evaluate and improve current accounting processes to optimize efficiency and compliance
  • Collaborate with corporate shared services to review and finalize financial entries
  • Analyze transactional-level details to identify discrepancies and ensure proper debit and credit balances
  • Support efforts to align financial statements and accounts with company standards
  • Act as a hands-on leader, mentoring and upskilling staff in accounting and financial reporting
  • Utilize JD Edwards Oracle and consolidation software to manage and report plant financials

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of debits, credits, and how financial statements interconnect
  • Proven experience in manufacturing cost accounting and plant controllership
  • Familiarity with month-end close processes in a manufacturing environment
  • Expertise in balance sheet account reconciliation and profit and loss analysis
  • Proficiency in JD Edwards Oracle and financial consolidation software
  • Ability to evaluate and improve existing accounting processes and systems
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with teams and explain complex concepts
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
