We are looking for an experienced Divisional Controller to provide financial leadership for a self-performing construction division in Miami, Florida. This position will guide accounting operations, strengthen reporting accuracy, and support business decisions across active commercial construction projects. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of construction accounting, lien law requirements, and project financial performance within a general contractor or large subcontractor environment.
Job Responsibility
Lead the full financial function for a construction division, ensuring strong oversight of accounting activities and alignment with business objectives
Partner with project accountants and operational leaders to monitor job performance, review cost activity, and improve financial visibility across projects
Prepare and oversee timely financial statements, including profit and loss reporting, cash flow analysis, and evaluations of project-related risks and opportunities
Manage work-in-progress reporting and maintain accurate tracking of project financial status throughout the construction lifecycle
Support funding planning for new work by evaluating project financial needs and coordinating documentation tied to construction financing
Ensure compliance with applicable company standards, construction regulations, and lien law requirements while serving as a key contact for external auditors
Provide leadership to teams and functions connected to contracts, audit activities, and tax coordination to maintain effective financial controls
Strengthen internal accounting processes and controls to support reliable reporting, operational efficiency, and sound decision-making
Requirements
7+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including substantial time supporting construction organizations
Must have knowledge of Lien Laws
At least 10 years of construction industry experience preferred, with background in a general contractor or major subcontractor setting strongly valued
Demonstrated expertise in construction accounting, project cost management, and work-in-progress reporting
Strong working knowledge of lien laws, construction-related compliance requirements, and financial controls
Experience collaborating closely with project accounting teams and operational stakeholders on commercial construction projects
Proven ability to lead financial operations, influence business decisions, and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
Hands-on experience with financial reporting, cash flow oversight, audit support, and project funding activities
