Job Description

Lead area geography and team of Specialty Account Managers (SAMs) to ensure market penetration by analyzing and understanding market dynamics and data, setting related strategic action plans and excellence in execution in order to ensure that sales goals are achieved within the Ophthalmology space.

Job Responsibility

Lead area geography and team of Specialty Account Managers (SAMs) to ensure market penetration
Analyze and understand market dynamics and data
Set related strategic action plans and ensure excellence in execution to achieve sales goals within the Ophthalmology space
Provide a clear, compelling sales purpose both clinically and business wise for the team members
Ensure the effective and appropriate use of resources
Build business strategy and strategic impact in line with corporate and therapeutic area goals
Lead market development initiatives
Manage administrative duties, ongoing learning of self and team members, operational expenses, program funding
Ensure that team members operate within regulatory guidelines
Ensure the team is trained and prepared to maximize business/sales potential
Achieve organizational sales goal volume, proper target reach / frequency objectives and other relevant KPIs
Establish a productive work environment
Work closely with and effectively collaborate across all divisions within the business unit
Develop an atmosphere of confidence and strength
Create opportunities to recognize and reward outstanding individual and team sales performance
Build an organization reflecting a highly professional workforce
Address performance issues decisively and appropriately
Develop internal and external customer relationships
Foster informative flow of insights and deliver influential messages
Develop and communicate a professional growth plan for self and team members
Continually educate self and team on Ophthalmology market issues / trends and product knowledge

Conduct weekly ride-alongs with written feedback and coaching of respective team members
Represent the organization at local, regional and national trade shows
Provide input to regional and national sales meetings
Strive to maintain a safe working environment
Maintain a positive and professional demeanor toward all customers and coworkers
Adhere to all policies and procedures of Amgen

Requirements

Doctorate degree AND 2 years of Sales/Marketing experience
Master's degree AND 6 years of Sales/Marketing experience
Bachelor's degree AND 8 years of Sales/Marketing experience
2 years of managerial experience directly managing people and/or leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or directing the allocation of resources

Nice to have

Sales experience in biologics, infusion, and/or rare/specialty products
Rare disease experience
Rare Disease launch experience
Immunology and / or Rheumatology experience
Buy-and-bill experience
Experience working with institutions and integrated delivery networks
Proficient in Microsoft Office
Professional, proactive demeanor
Strong interpersonal skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
