The Distribution Supervisor is a key leader overseeing warehousing, materials management, receivals & shipments, and distribution processes. This role supervises a team of material handlers, ensuring materials are received and handled correctly, they are efficiently stored, and pre-positioned for production lines; finished products stored and/or shipped in a timely and adequate manner, either to the warehouse, to co-packing or to customers.
Job Responsibility:
Supervise materials management processes, from receival to pre-positioning ensuring efficient handling and availability of materials to support uninterrupted production
Supervise shipping operations, coordinating with the Distribution Leader to ensure receivals and on-time deliveries, outbound shipping meeting customers’ needs and expectations, while optimizing transportation costs and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs)
Supervise material handlers, providing guidance, coaching, and performance feedback to ensure a high-performing and motivated workforce
Ensure the team acts with a Safety-First mindset by following PPE, GMP and HAACP guidelines
Assist with the development of distribution processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and best practices to improve efficiency, reduce lead times, and minimize errors in material handling, order prepping & picking, and shipping
Utlilize WMS system to maintain inventory control measures to track materials and finished goods, ensure accurate counts, and minimize discrepancies, contributing to cost savings and operational efficiency
Collaborate with planning, production, procurement, logistics and warehousing, and other departments to ensure seamless coordination and alignment of distribution activities that impact production operations
Prioritize safety in distribution activities, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, codes, and standards to maintain a safe working environment
Requirements:
High School diploma/GED, preferred associates and/or bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, Logistics, or a related field
3+ years proven experience in distribution supervision, preferably in the food manufacturing industry
Experience in leading a team of material handlers, fostering collaboration and professional growth
Forklift and pallet jack experience
Strong understanding of materials management, shipping processes, and distribution best practices
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment
Understanding of food safety regulations (FDA, HACCP, etc.) and QA processes
Proficient with WMS
