Job Description:

Are you looking for a Distribution engineer role and have adequate experience in the field? This contract role maybe a right fit for you.

Job Responsibility:

  • Use CYME engineering software to analyze existing and future distribution circuits
  • Perform load flow analysis using CYME DIST to assess circuit capacity, load connection feasibility, voltage profiles and low voltage mitigation, phase balancing, conductor size upgrades, fault current analysis
  • Conduct protection coordination studies using CYME TCC
  • Determine appropriate sizing/settings for fuses (branch lines), reclosers, switchgear, capacitor banks, voltage regulators
  • Conduct thermal studies of cables in ducts with appropriate derating of feeder cables using CYME CAP
  • Optimizing ampacity of cables in duct banks
  • Establishing thermal limits of distribution feeders
  • Perform non-linear pole analysis and non-standard overhead line designs using SPIDAcalc
  • Use SPIDA Calc and/or PLS CAD to assess pole line structures, conductor tensions, and clearances per CSA 22.3 no1
  • Provide technical expertise in support of capital infrastructure renewal and expansion programs
  • Prepare engineering deliverables as POR
  • Review engineering deliverables created by consulting companies as OE
  • Review customer electrical consultant submissions for primary voltage services for compliance with requirements
  • Fulfill Professional of Record (POR) duties for non-standard/engineered solutions
  • Adhere to EGBC Bylaws
  • Provide and maintain EGBC Permit to Practice
  • Comply with internal Quality Management Practices

Requirements:

  • Utility experience with either medium or high voltage systems
  • project experience acting as OE
  • P.ENG & Valid EGBC Permit to Practice
  • Active Basic First Aid certification
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Laptop and software licenses: Processor Intel i7 or AMD 7 or higher, RAM min 32 GB, 1 TB recommended, SSD storage 512 GB, Dedicated Graphics Card (GPU), Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5, USB 3, HDMI port, Internal Microphone and Camera for conference calls, Compatible with USB-C docking station, Power Supply
  • Required software licenses: SPIDAcalc, Consigno, SPIDAcalc, Notarius (digital signature tool)
