Job Description:

As a Dispute Officer, you'll play a vital role in supporting WIC to help injured workers and employers overcome some of the most challenging times of their lives. You will be joining a newly created multi-disciplinary team with existing Conciliation Officers and new Dispute Officers.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead case management of conciliation disputes assessing each dispute at the outset and proactively engaging with Injured Workers and other parties
  • Work autonomously to assist and empower all parties to participate effectively, make decisions and reach agreement when possible
  • Provide a prompt, high quality service to all parties, engaging effectively, consistently and professionally
  • Use legal and technical knowledge to review documentation, legal processes and medical terminology to resolve disputes

Requirements:

  • Experience in case management, alternative dispute resolution or conflict resolution, ideally within a workers' compensation or related setting
  • Well-developed analytical and decision-making skills with the capacity to understand and apply legislation, policy and procedure
  • Well-developed verbal and written communication skills and the ability to engage proactively, respectfully, fairly and patiently with parties, stakeholders and other staff
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with a strong client-service orientation and willingness to support internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong conflict resolution and negotiation skills and along with the ability to identify appropriate solutions to problems
