Job Description:

We are seeking a Dispenser to join our fabulous team at Debenham Group Practice covering Debenham, Otley and Grundisburgh Surgeries. We are a friendly, innovative and exciting GP practice which prides itself on outstanding patient care, excellent patient access and good systems to support our clinicians.

Job Responsibility:

  • Ensure drugs and medicines are prepared efficiently, accurately and safely according to legal requirements
  • Assist the Dispensary Manager in ensuring effective financial and legal control of the dispensary is maintained
  • Assist in the preparation of all aspects of dispensing including stock control, ordering, re-stocking
  • Issuing stock items and prepared prescriptions
  • Handing out prescriptions, collection of prescription charges
  • Processing and dispensing repeat prescription requests
  • Collecting private charges for private medications
  • Issuing and dispensing dosset boxes
  • Sorting, stamping and endorsing prescriptions
  • Remove uncollected items from collection drawers
  • Check stock against invoices
  • Operation of efficient stock control
  • Ensuring drugs are received and stored appropriately
  • Ensuring refrigerated items are stored at appropriate temperature
  • Cleaning work surfaces and shelving
  • Date checking
  • Maintaining full and accurate records of all dispensing transactions
  • Accepting orders for repeats and dealing with queries
  • Dealing with Ask My GP queries
  • Ensure audits are completed timely
  • Handling and safe destruction of patient returned medicines
  • Stocking shelves using rotation method
  • Removing out of date stock
  • To action tasks, notifications and emails
  • Using the computer to maintain accurate records
  • Liaise with the GPs regarding medication requests
  • Dealing with queries from patients
  • To handle controlled drugs and maintain accurate register
  • Assist in stock checks
  • To provide cover for team members during absence
  • To perform safe disposal of pharmaceutical waste
  • To attend and contribute to team meetings
  • To act upon any new information relating to stock or procedures
  • To keep professionally up to date
  • To work with the Dispensary Manager to comply with Standard Operating Procedures

Requirements:

  • Qualified to NVQ level 2 or an equivalent dispensing qualification
  • Dispensing experience and knowledge are preferred but not essential as training will be provided
