Job Description

We are looking for a reliable and attentive Dispatcher to join our team in Henrico, Virginia. This is a Contract to permanent position, offering an excellent opportunity for career growth within a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The role involves managing overnight shifts and ensuring seamless communication and coordination among team members.

Job Responsibility

  • Coordinate nightly freight movement, ensuring loads are efficiently planned and routed
  • Manage high call volumes with terminals and internal dispatch teams to coordinate shipments
  • Plan and assign loads to appropriate drivers, routes, and equipment to ensure timely delivery
  • Communicate with terminals across multiple hubs to organize freight movement and resolve routing challenges
  • Collaborate with other dispatchers to coordinate shipments moving across different territories or regions
  • Monitor freight flow and adjust plans in real time based on shipment volume, operational needs, or delays
  • Utilize internal systems and Microsoft Excel to track loads, routes, and operational updates
  • Identify and resolve logistical issues quickly to keep freight moving efficiently

Requirements

  • Previous dispatch, logistics, transportation, or operations coordination experience strongly preferred
  • Strong geographic awareness and ability to understand freight routes and regional logistics
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and make quick decisions in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication skills, both over the phone and in person
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing operational needs
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Positive attitude with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multiple teams and department
