We are looking for a detail-oriented Dispatcher to support daily transportation operations in Virginia. This contract to permanent opportunity is ideal for someone who excels at driver communication, resolves issues quickly, and keeps workflows moving efficiently in a fast-paced environment. The person in this role will serve as a key point of contact for drivers, helping address route questions, payroll-related concerns, and safety matters while maintaining accurate communication records. Success in this position requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, and confidence using Microsoft Office and dispatch-related systems.
Job Responsibility
Serve as the primary communication link for a group of approximately 35 to 50 drivers, providing timely updates and operational support throughout the day
Respond to driver questions related to route challenges, payroll matters, and safety concerns, ensuring issues are addressed clearly and efficiently
Use messaging platforms as the main method of communication while handling phone conversations as needed for urgent or complex situations
Document driver interactions, operational updates, and issue resolutions to maintain accurate and accessible records
Coordinate with internal operations and logistics teams to help resolve service disruptions and keep daily activities on track
Monitor ongoing driver needs and escalate unresolved concerns to the appropriate teams when additional support is required
Support dispatch and logistics workflows by maintaining organized information and assisting with day-to-day operational communication
Utilize Microsoft Office tools to manage records, track activity, and prepare routine operational updates
Requirements
Previous experience in dispatch, transportation coordination, or a similar operations-focused support role
Trucking dispatch experience is strongly preferred
Ability to manage communication with a high volume of drivers in a fast-paced environment
Strong written communication skills, with the ability to handle most interactions through messaging tools
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel
Customer service experience with a detail-oriented and solutions-focused approach
Ability to balance multiple priorities, stay organized, and respond effectively to time-sensitive issues
