Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Dispatch Supervisor to lead a team of Dispatch Agents responsible for performance across P&D, drayage, and line-haul operations. This role is based at our Chicago, IL facility.

Job Responsibility

  • Organize, prioritize, and allocate day-to-day operational activities
  • Coach and mentor team members and implement corrective actions when needed
  • Ensure comprehensive training for new employees and assign qualified personnel to support ongoing training
  • Maintain and update the dispatch office policy and SOP manuals
  • Ensure pickup and delivery requests are dispatched promptly and professionally to drivers and vendors
  • Ensure accurate and timely entry of PODs and all related pickup/delivery timestamps
  • Manage driver communications, route-related issues, and call volume
  • escalate or adjust operational plans as appropriate
  • Continuously monitor vendor performance and develop improvement plans when necessary
  • Monitor transportation costs and identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost savings
  • Proactively manage and align with customer expectations
  • Uphold and promote our Safety First culture at all times

Requirements

  • Minimum 2–3 years of transportation experience in dispatch and/or operations supervision
  • Strong knowledge of freight forwarding operations
  • Strong negotiation, administrative, and organizational skills
  • Results-driven with excellent attention to detail
  • Experience working in a Collective Bargaining Unit environment preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience preferred
