Job Description:

We are looking for a skilled Discovery Paralegal to join our team on a contract basis (3-4 months) in Houston, Texas. In this role, you will manage a high-volume insurance defense docket, overseeing all aspects of case coordination and ensuring compliance with deadlines. This position requires bilingual fluency and expertise in civil litigation processes to effectively collaborate with attorneys, clients, and other stakeholders. Defense experience is required.

Job Responsibility:

  • Handle a large docket of 200–300 insurance defense cases, ensuring all deadlines, court appearances, and procedural requirements are met
  • Coordinate schedules and guide attorneys on required court attendance and case timelines
  • Manage case lifecycles from intake through resolution, including maintaining accurate records and tracking legal documents
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for logistical information, prioritizing tasks and adapting to shifting priorities
  • Collaborate with billing staff to ensure timely and accurate billing, meeting a monthly requirement of 140 paralegal hours
  • Communicate fluently in both required languages to facilitate interactions with attorneys, clients, courts, and other parties
  • Apply thorough knowledge of insurance defense practices to maintain compliance and ensure efficient case handling
  • Utilize case management software and legal technology platforms to organize and track case details
  • Maintain case files and documents according to legal standards and organizational policies
  • Assist in trial preparation by organizing evidence, preparing exhibits, and coordinating with legal teams

Requirements:

  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
  • Proven experience managing insurance defense cases, preferably in high-volume environments
  • Paralegal certification or equivalent education and experience
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to efficiently handle large caseloads
  • Familiarity with case management software and legal technology platforms
  • Knowledge of civil litigation processes, discovery procedures, and trial preparation
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with attorneys and other legal professionals
  • Understanding of legal billing practices and ability to meet paralegal billing requirements
