Zuora is re-architecting CPQ for the next generation—moving beyond traditional configuration and pricing into AI-driven, agentic quoting systems that directly impact revenue growth and deal velocity. This role sits at the center of that shift, driving the core CPQ platform (DealDesk + pricing foundations) while unlocking high-leverage capabilities like agent-assisted quoting and pricing optimization (CPQ-x). You'll tackle hard problems at the intersection of distributed systems, pricing complexity, and applied AI—from building scalable pricing engines to embedding intelligent agents into quote workflows. You'll define and deliver the technical foundation for agentic quoting, de-risk critical GTM and product gaps, and shape how Zuora monetizes AI to drive measurable pricing uplift and sales efficiency.

Shaping how Zuora monetizes AI to drive measurable pricing uplift and sales efficiency
Requirements:
Have significant experience leading backend/platform engineering teams building large-scale SaaS systems (CPQ, billing, pricing, or similarly complex domains)
Are strong at system design, technical judgment, and organizational leadership—able to make clear tradeoffs between flexibility, correctness, and scale
Can bridge deterministic systems and AI-driven approaches, knowing when to apply rules vs ML/LLMs to solve real business problems
Thrive in environments where requirements are complex and evolving, and where you're expected to drive both long-term architecture and near-term execution
Bring a track record of delivering high-impact platforms—e.g., scaling pricing systems, simplifying complex workflows, or embedding new capabilities (like AI) into core products
Are effective at driving cross-functional outcomes, especially across Product, Data/ML, and GTM teams
Nice to have:
Experience with CPQ platforms (Salesforce CPQ, Zuora CPQ, Apttus)
Background in subscription or usage-based pricing models
Familiarity with LLM patterns (RAG, embeddings) or production ML systems
Experience integrating with CRM/ERP systems or financial platforms
