The Director of Software Engineering for our Marketing Technology team is responsible for driving the development and execution of technology solutions that power 7-Eleven’s marketing initiatives, including customer loyalty and rewards programs, retail media networks, and personalized customer experiences across digital platforms. The role bridges marketing strategy with cutting-edge technology implementation to enhance customer engagement and drive business growth through advanced CRM capabilities and data-driven marketing solutions.
Job Responsibility:
Develop and execute the technology roadmap for marketing platforms, including 7-Rewards, Speedy Rewards, Fuel Rewards, personalized offers, and retail media capabilities
Guide the evaluation and selection of marketing technology vendors and solutions
Oversee the architecture, design, development, and maintenance of marketing technology systems that support omnichannel customer experiences
Architect solutions that leverage customer data to enable personalized experiences and drive incremental revenue through retail media and fuel rewards offerings
Drive the integration and optimization of key marketing platforms including Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Customer Data Platforms (CDP), and retail media technologies
Implement agile methodologies and DevOps practices to increase delivery velocity and quality
Optimize technology performance, reliability, and security while mitigating technical debt
Partner with Marketing, Digital, and Data Science teams to translate business requirements into scalable technology solutions
Lead a team of software engineers, architects, and technical product managers in developing innovative marketing technology solutions
Mentor and develop engineering talent, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement
Establish technical standards, best practices, and governance for the marketing technology ecosystem
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related technical field
Master’s degree preferred
10+ years of software engineering experience with at least 5 years in leadership roles
Deep expertise in CRM systems, particularly Salesforce Marketing Cloud architecture, implementation, and optimization
Hands-on experience implementing and integrating CRM and Customer Data Platforms (CDP) with marketing technology stacks
Proven experience building retail media networks (RMN), fuel rewards systems, or similar advertising technology platforms
Direct experience working with RMN platforms such as Vantage and Placements.io
Strong understanding of data management, customer identity resolution, and personalization technologies
Experience leading teams that build customer journey orchestration and real-time decisioning systems
Knowledge of marketing automation tools, campaign management systems, and digital advertising platforms
Proven track record of successful large-scale implementations of marketing technology solutions
Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and modern software development practices
Strong technical knowledge of modern software architecture, APIs, microservices, and integration patterns
Experience with data-driven marketing technologies and customer analytics
Track record of successful collaboration with Marketing, Product, and Data teams
Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts to business stakeholders
Experience in retail or convenience store industry, especially with fuel and loyalty technologies, preferred
