Job Description

Rowan Digital Infrastructure is looking for a Director, Sales Engineering to lead early-stage technical discovery and solution definition for hyperscale customer engagements, ensuring that power, cooling, network, and (where applicable) tenant fit-out solutions are clearly defined, internally aligned, and execution-ready—enabling Business Development to confidently advance commercial and contractual discussions.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead technical discovery across deployment models (build-to-suit, powered shell, turnkey, hybrid)
  • Understand customer workload needs (cloud, AI training/ML, inference, enterprise)
  • Define resilience, redundancy, availability, and network requirements
  • Translate customer needs into clear, achievable solutions aligned with Rowan’s platform
  • Establish solution boundaries early, identifying fixed requirements and areas of flexibility
  • Serve as the primary technical integrator across Engineering, Construction, Energy, Operations, Legal, and Commercial teams
  • Balance speed, cost, resilience, standardization, and customization trade-offs
  • Ensure recommendations are practical, sequenced, and aligned with customer timelines and commercial objectives
  • Provide technical leadership for term sheets, cost reimbursement agreements, SLAs, leases, and related agreements
  • Ensure technical language is precise, executable, and internally aligned
  • Identify technical risk and support pragmatic mitigation strategies
  • Partner closely with Customer Engagement leads and other BD leaders
  • Support customer meetings, workshops, and solution reviews
  • Help determine when technical alignment is sufficient to advance commercially
  • Reduce prolonged or circular technical debates that delay contract progression
  • Capture recurring customer requirements to inform Rowan’s standard offerings
  • Maintain insight into industry trends across architectures, power density, cooling, energy integration, networking, and operations
  • Ensure solutions meet current needs while remaining adaptable for future requirements
  • Contribute to customer briefings and industry forums as a technical thought leader

Requirements

  • 7–10+ years of experience in the data center industry or related infrastructure sectors
  • Experience in one or more of the following: Data center design or engineering
  • Construction or design-build delivery
  • Facilities operations or other critical environments
  • Technical sales, solutions engineering, or pre-construction
  • Exposure to hyperscale and/or large-scale enterprise data center projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, architecture, construction management, or related field preferred (or equivalent practical experience)
  • Deep understanding of data center systems (power, cooling, structure, controls, operations)
  • Strong judgment in technical trade-offs and sequencing
  • Clear, confident communicator with both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Highly customer-centric, trusted in direct customer interactions
  • Pragmatic, execution-oriented, with strong cross-functional credibility
  • Ability to travel approximately 30%

What we offer

  • Hybrid working environment
  • Team building and educational opportunities
  • Generous benefits package including robust health benefits and a 401(k) company contribution
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Competitive compensation and bonus plan
