Job Description:

HSBC is seeking a high calibre professional to join as Director, Rates Trading in Singapore. The role involves managing trading risks, providing liquidity and trading ideas, maintaining accurate pricing services, and ensuring compliance with internal controls. The focus will be on the SGD market with responsibilities involving interest rates, bonds, and derivatives.

Job Responsibility:

  • Effectively maintains various risk positions and manages within position limits, providing liquidity and trade ideas to clients while trading within set limits to achieve a given revenue target
  • Manage buy and sell orders in cooperation with sales desk
  • Ensure correct ticket entry and order routing
  • Provides consistent and accurate pricing service to sales force and clients
  • Provides market information to sales staff as well as guidance on transaction opportunities and market timing
  • Monitors daily electronic trading activity and determines where certain trades should be routed for execution
  • Reviews all activity for accuracy of account information
  • Responsible for daily P&L sign-off(s) for the trading book(s) managed
  • Executes firm and customers' trades in accordance with desk Volcker designation and may contribute to the formulation of trading strategies
  • Maintains a thorough knowledge of the product area including market liquidity and volatility, pricing and trading strategies

Requirements:

  • Market making experience in interest rates, bonds and derivatives (e.g. cross currency swaps), with detailed knowledge of all aspects of business’ trading area
  • Experience in trading both bonds and derivatives markets is required
  • Specific expertise in SGD Rates, Derivatives, and Bonds will be required for this role
  • Preference for substantial years of experience as an established market maker in these products
  • Bachelor's or equivalent University degree, or equivalent work-related experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with very strong analytical skills
  • Ability to multi-task and to work well under pressure, strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, has attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and manage complex and diverse instruments
