As Director - Defense Program Execution at Bombardier Defense, you are responsible for the full lifecycle Program execution once the contract is awarded, and are responsible for its overall success, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and on-spec delivery while maintaining close alignment with functional teams. The activities may span multiple years. This role exists within a growth area and offers potential to shape the future organization and your role within it.
Job Responsibility:
Operational Leadership & Delivery Performance: Full P&L accountability of a Bombardier Defense program
Own end-to-end delivery of Bombardier Defense programs, ensuring cost, schedule, and quality commitments are achieved
Own program initiation governance, ensuring commitments are technically, financially, and operationally sound before contract award
Oversee production, modification, and aircraft delivery standards in partnership with functional leadership
Cross-Functional Integration & Governance: Manages a cross-functional team to ensure seamless collaboration across Engineering, Supply Chain, Program Excellence, Quality, and Operations
Coordinate with the Program Excellence Officer to standardize program management frameworks, performance reporting, and best-practice sharing
Recruit, develop and manage a highly functional multi-disciplinary team at multiple work locations (Canada, USA and internationally)
Create and nurture transparent, authentic, and effective communication within the organization through collaborative leadership
Define and implement a lean, agile operating system for your team ensuring integration and compliance with Bombardier Policies and Procedures
Customer Engagement: Accountable for the customer relationship for a given program and act as the prime customer facing representative for a given program
Engage with senior customer and prime-contractor stakeholders to ensure alignment on execution
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in business, law, finance, engineering or other aerospace relevant field
15+ years of relevant experience in a similar role at Director or Managerial level within aerospace, defense, or other complex environments
5+ years of Customer facing experience including at higher levels of Industry, Government and Armed services
Proven success delivering multi-year, multi-stakeholder aircraft or mission system programs
Strong understanding of cost, schedule, risk, and performance management
Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional environments, managing engineering, operations, Supply Chain and In Service
Excellent communication and negotiating skills combined with the ability to understand technical requirements, financial statements, contractual terms and conditions
Broad yet through understanding of aircraft, their systems, operations and support requirement in a governmental or defense applications
Strong commercial acumen to develop compelling value propositions
Experience working with Industrial Technical Benefits, Offsets and other localization aspects associated with defense contract opportunities
Ability to work flexible, extended and/or irregular working hours, together with an ability to travel globally in line with business demands
Working knowledge of Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
Eligible for Canadian Controlled Goods Program clearance (where appropriate) and/or US International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) clearance
Eligible for security clearance at SECRET or above (where appropriate) in either Canada or US
