As a Director in the Newsroom, this role will serve as the strategic anchor for earned media and storytelling at A&G - ensuring mastery of day-to-day execution and owning the strategy and day-to-day leadership of accounts, particularly for accounts rooted in Corporate and Purpose-Driven communications. Serving as an active driver of Newsroom innovation, the Director who thrives in this role will be a problem-solver to the core, seeking new approaches to spark action and earn attention for our clients.

  • Lead the development of tailored PR strategies based on deep understanding of the client's business objectives, target audiences, and competitive landscape
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to clients, problem-solving in real time and providing support in times of crisis
  • Lead successful earned media programs that drive meaningful business results, maintaining strong media relationships and crafting successful earned media plans
  • Excel at synthesizing complex or highly technical information into persuasive and impactful storytelling, including key messaging, bylines, and op-eds
  • Lead workflows to ensure Newsroom efforts are seamlessly integrated with Social Media, Creator Relations, and broader integrated teams
  • Manage the day-to-day financial health of partnerships, including contribution to SOWs, staffing plans, and budget tracking
  • Regularly track and report on performance metrics, providing high-level strategic insights to drive optimization
  • Proactively explore the evolving media landscape to enhance our partnerships
  • Live 'chronically online,' staying connected to culture, trends, and inspiring content to ensure solutions resonate with brand audiences
  • In partnership with department leadership, drive ongoing research initiatives to identify new tools and processes to expand Newsroom capabilities
  • Identify and establish new partnerships or tools to scale agency-wide earned media capabilities
  • Actively contribute to new business pitches and executive meetings, confidently presenting Newsroom capabilities
  • Consistently identify and seize new opportunities to create unignorable moments for our clients that create tangible growth for their business
  • Manage 1-3 direct reports, prioritizing the coaching, mentorship, and stewardship of their career growth
  • Continuously identify and implement ways to raise the quality and consistency of deliverables across the Newsroom
  • Actively contribute to fostering a collaborative, high-performance, and inclusive agency culture

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of relevant PR experience, ideally inclusive of Corporate and/or Nonprofit communications
  • Excel at synthesizing and converting complex or highly technical information and data points into persuasive and impactful storytelling
  • Outstanding technical and creative writing applied to draft key messaging, bylines, speeches, and op-eds
  • Proven track record of leading successful earned media programs and securing high-impact coverage
  • Experience in agency land or on the client side in a fast-paced environment, leading multiple projects, lines of business, and growth areas simultaneously
  • Entrepreneurial in spirit
  • Experienced in new business pitch rooms and executive meetings and skilled at presentations
  • Love being a people manager and prioritize coaching and mentorship of junior team members
