Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer for Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Irving, the Director Outpatient Services is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating outpatient operations and programs for one or more service lines at Baylor Scott and White Health (BSWH), which may include cardiology, neurology, oncology, orthopedic, radiology, respiratory, or other service lines in BSWH hospitals, heart hospitals, clinics, and ambulatory care facilities. Plans and directs programs and activities which may include clinical practice guidance, clinical rotations, utilization, quality, productivity, performance standards, patient safety, regulatory compliance, and continuing education. Develops and establishes policies and procedures related to the practice and monitors policy implementation, communication, and compliance. Advises BSWH leadership, medical staff, departments, and operations in matters related to the practice and ensures alignment with overall BSWH business objectives. Collaborates with clinical operations, physician leadership, and nursing leadership to drive improvement in the delivery of care and overall quality of patient care at BSWH. Identifies and implements best practice programs and processes and ensures compliance with all regulatory areas that impact the service line. Directs the clinical practice, coordinates patient service delivery, educates and develops staff, and monitors work environment for BSWH. Partners closely with physician and senior leadership in the development of growth strategies, achievement of targets, and outcome improvement accordance with BSWH business objectives. This position oversees the strategic growth and development of the following outpatient areas: - Cancer Center to include with Radiation Oncology - Two Women's Imaging Clinics - Wound Clinic with Hyperbaric - Sleep Center

Job Responsibility

  • Directs service line operations, including all programs and accreditation activities
  • Develops and maintains interdepartmental and interdisciplinary relationships necessary to provide cohesiveness and administrative direction throughout complex service lines
  • Communicates with physicians and physician leaders frequently and effectively to cultivate partnerships and strategic alliances
  • Leads and facilitates strategic planning sessions for subspecialties
  • Directs strategic change projects and initiatives to ensure effective planning, implementation, engagement, and measurement
  • Leads and manages teams that provide a broad range of services
  • Blends operational and financial knowledge to develop improvement plans across numerous and varied operating units
  • Establishes and improves organizational metrics, dashboards, and reports that provide for improved decision-making
  • Leads business development activities related to growth and oversight of clinical programs

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, healthcare, or related field
  • 3+ years of experience in service line specialty, or relevant healthcare experience
  • Experience in a leadership role
  • Strong knowledge of clinical environments and experience collaborating across large, multi-hospital healthcare organizations
  • Ability to translate strategic goals into implementation plans and mobilize teams
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • 3 years of experience
