Job Description

Brookline seeks a qualified and service-oriented professional to serve as Director of Veterans Services. This position leads all operations of the Veterans’ Services Office, delivering benefits, advocacy, and support to veterans and their dependents in compliance with Massachusetts General Laws and federal regulations.

Job Responsibility

  • Lead all operations of the Veterans’ Services Office
  • Deliver benefits, advocacy, and support to veterans and their dependents in compliance with Massachusetts General Laws and federal regulations
  • Administration of local, state, and federal veterans’ benefits programs, including financial, medical, housing, and burial assistance
  • Provide counseling and case management
  • Assist with applications and eligibility documentation
  • Ensure compliance with reporting and reimbursement requirements
  • Manage the office budget
  • Maintain confidential records
  • May supervise staff
  • Coordinate community outreach and veteran-related events such as Memorial Day and Veterans Day

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human services, public administration, or a related field
  • At least five years of relevant experience
  • Must be an honorably discharged U.S. veteran
  • Must obtain Massachusetts Department of Veterans’ Services certification within six months of appointment and maintain certification
  • Must achieve U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs accreditation within one year

Nice to have

  • Veterans’ benefits experience preferred
  • LICSW preferred
