Job Description

The Director of Tennis – Sports Performance & High-Performance Program is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Saddlebrook’s world-renowned tennis training programs, including High-Performance, Touring, and Saddlebrook Prep Academy athletes. This leader will uphold Saddlebrook’s legacy of excellence by fostering a structured, competitive, and world-class training environment. The position requires a dynamic and experienced professional capable of developing elite athletes, mentoring coaches, and ensuring alignment across the academy’s technical, tactical, and performance standards.

Job Responsibility

  • Oversee all High-Performance Tennis operations, managing elite junior, collegiate, academy, and professional player development
  • Lead and mentor a team of high-performance and touring coaches to ensure consistent training methodology and player development standards
  • Collaborate with the Director of Racquet Sports and Director of Coaching to define the technical and tactical identity for all levels of athletes
  • Maintain Saddlebrook’s tradition of excellence by creating a professional, disciplined, and motivating training culture
  • Design and implement individualized short- and long-term development plans addressing technical, tactical, physical, and mental components
  • Identify and prepare top Saddlebrook players for collegiate and professional transitions
  • Conduct performance reviews, video analysis, and data-driven evaluations for all high-performance athletes
  • Integrate fitness benchmarks and match analytics into player development strategies
  • Coordinate domestic and international tournament scheduling (USTA, ITF, ATP, WTA)
  • Manage coach assignments and travel logistics for academy and touring players
  • Provide on-court coaching, match scouting, and tactical support at key events
  • Maintain strong communication with federations, sponsors, and player representatives
  • Serve as the liaison between the High-Performance Team, Saddlebrook Academy, and Saddlebrook Prep for dual-pathway athletes
  • Partner with the Sports Performance Director on fitness periodization and recovery plans
  • Conduct player and parent meetings to review progress and set performance goals
  • Collaborate with Admissions, Marketing, and Communications to highlight academy achievements and alumni success
  • Assist with identifying and recruiting top prospects for High-Performance, Saddlebrook Prep, and Touring programs
  • Evaluate player readiness for advancement between internal groups (Development, Advanced, High-Performance, Touring)
  • Foster player retention through transparent feedback, structured progression, and a supportive, accountability-based culture
  • Oversee daily scheduling, staffing, and court utilization for all high-performance and academy activities
  • Manage program budgets, including travel, staffing, and competition costs
  • Lead weekly planning meetings with the coaching and support team
  • Continuously evaluate and refine the program to maintain Saddlebrook’s position as a global leader in tennis development
  • Represent Saddlebrook at industry events, coaching conferences, and player showcases
  • Uphold the highest ethical, professional, and regulatory standards in alignment with ITF, USTA, ATP, and WTA
  • Promote ongoing certification and professional growth for all coaching staff

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in high-performance tennis coaching or tennis academy leadership
  • College degree preferred
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills
  • Proven ability to multi-task and manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and performance tracking software
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and sit for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs., and perform repetitive motions
