Job Responsibility

  • Drive growth, strategy and partnerships with new and existing accounts
  • Responsible for the success of their Sales Management team and associated portfolios
  • Create demand, identify new opportunities, and sell creative solutions aligned to customer needs
  • Represent the voice of the customer internally, with the goal of driving continuous improvement and collaborating to deliver on customer commitments across multiple teams and geographies
  • Utilize understanding of Bison’s modes/services/products, technology, and business process to add, retain and grow customers through the sale of diverse products and services
  • Generate new revenue through the development of new and existing customer accounts
  • Be responsible for the overall success of their respective Sales Teams
  • Understand their customer’s potential total logistics spend, what modes and markets they ship in, and create strategies to create opportunity to further intertwine our network with theirs
  • Work in conjunction with various lines of service to qualify opportunities, design specific customer-oriented solutions and coordinate the appropriate internal resources to close business
  • Accountable to delivering quarterly and annual reviews with their customers
  • Accountable to building a strategic growth plan for each customer and work with internal resources to execute that strategic plan
  • Accountable to the financial success of their team and business relationships they manage
  • Ensure that all service lines are operated profitably within their managed account base
  • Accountable to ensure that pricing for their accounts is aligned with market and aligned with profitable outcomes
  • Be the voice of the customer within Bison
  • Monitor service levels
  • Coordinate internal resources to ensure the delivery of quality service(s) to their customer base
  • Serve as an internal point of escalation for Account Management and Operations teams to resolve issues with their customers
  • Look for ways to continuously improve business processes in their personal and team account base to optimize productivity of the business they manage
  • Coordinate/manage internal resources in the onboarding of opportunities to ensure success
  • Own the successful onboard of new business
  • Accountable to ensure that they, and the teams that manage and operate business on their behalf, are leveraging technology and process in such a manner as to align with organizational goals surrounding data quality
  • Document all interactions in CRM, including meetings held, opportunities created, and contacts made
  • Prospect new accounts or re-engage dormant accounts
  • Assist Sales Managers and AM teams in the closing of opportunities mined from accounts in their portfolio
  • Keep current on Transportation market trends and topics and will use that information to inform internal resources and their customers on how those topics and trends may impact their business
  • Use market intelligence to help set sales and pricing strategies
  • At times, be expected to represent Bison at industry events and conferences

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience leading people in a managerial role in a fast-paced and dynamic business environment
  • 5-8+ years of prior logistics and transportation sales experience
  • Post Secondary Education (Business, Commerce, Marketing, Supply Chain or related discipline - MBA considered an asset)
  • Strong negotiation and business acumen
  • Strong communication skills: excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Excellent leadership ability, team management, interpersonal and employee development skills
  • Progressive knowledge of the transportation industry including competition and trends
  • Energetic and you love to put your fingerprints on a business
  • Known for your sense of urgency and track record for strong business results
  • Experienced in developing recommendations and strategies to overcome challenges and establish effective go-forward plans to meet your objectives
  • Take initiative and make independent decisions while being approachable
  • Motivated leader who empowers, mentors and takes pride in their team
  • Strong organizational and project management skills able to manage multiple concurrent projects
