Our client, a leading manufacturer of consumer and industrial products, is seeking a Director of Sales to lead a team of National Account Managers and develop the commercial strategy for a diverse portfolio of customers and channels. This highly visible leadership role will be responsible for driving revenue growth, profitability, pricing strategy, customer development, and market expansion while partnering closely with finance, demand planning, product development, manufacturing, and executive leadership. The ideal candidate will combine strong sales leadership with financial acumen, strategic thinking, and the ability to leverage data and market insights to drive business results.
Job Responsibility
Lead, coach, and develop a team of National Account Managers and external sales representatives
Develop and execute sales strategies that drive profitable growth and achieve annual business objectives
Manage relationships with major retail mass, club, distribution, commercial, and industrial customers
Develop pricing, promotional, and customer growth strategies that maximize revenue and margin
Analyze sales performance, profitability, customer trends, and market opportunities to identify growth initiatives
Utilize forecasting, reporting, and analytics tools to support business planning and decision-making
Oversee distribution strategies and customer portfolios to optimize market coverage and profitability
Partner cross-functionally with finance, demand planning, manufacturing, product development, and marketing teams
Provide business reviews, forecasting updates, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership
Identify and pursue new market opportunities while strengthening existing customer relationships
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related discipline, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience
10+ years of progressive sales and national account management experience within consumer products or related industries
Proven success leading and developing high-performing sales teams
Experience managing major retail, club, mass, and distribution accounts
Strong understanding of pricing strategy, forecasting, budgeting, and financial performance metrics
Data-driven leader with strong analytical and business planning capabilities
Proficiency with CRM systems, sales reporting tools, forecasting platforms, and Microsoft Excel
Strong communication, negotiation, and cross-functional leadership skills
Nice to have
Experience managing independent sales representatives, agencies, or broker networks is a plus
Experience with eCommerce and omnichannel sales strategies is a plus
