We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Director of Retail Marketing and Communications to lead brand activation and go-to-market strategies for a fast-growing CPG company. This newly created role offers the unique opportunity to shape and scale the brand's presence across digital platforms, retail spaces, experiential channels, and corporate communications. The ideal candidate thrives in high-growth environments and has a proven ability to transform brand strategies into impactful campaigns that drive consumer engagement and business results. The ideal Director of Retail Marketing and Communications comes with 10 years of experience in CPG, retail, food/beverage leading digital, social, and communications teams. This is a leadership role focusing on building and deploying omnichannel 360 campaigns. This role is based in Downtown Detroit and is onsite 5 days per week.
Job Responsibility
Develop and implement integrated marketing campaigns across digital, retail, trade, and experiential channels to support product launches and brand initiatives
Drive the creation and execution of a comprehensive marketing calendar that aligns with business priorities and seasonal opportunities
Lead brand communications and storytelling efforts, ensuring consistency in messaging across internal and external channels
Oversee digital and social media strategies, leveraging data-driven insights to enhance brand visibility and optimize channel performance
Manage the execution of retail activations, trade shows, and branded events to deliver a cohesive brand experience
Build and mentor a high-performing marketing team, fostering a collaborative and innovative culture
Collaborate cross-functionally with teams such as Product, Sales, Operations, and Finance to align marketing efforts with business goals
Track and analyze campaign performance metrics to inform strategic adjustments and future planning
Partner with external agencies and vendors to deliver high-quality marketing materials on time and within budget
Support media relations and reputation-building initiatives, including executive visibility and internal communications
Requirements
A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in brand marketing, retail/CPG marketing, or integrated marketing
Strong background in the consumer packaged goods (CPG), food and beverage, grocery, or retail-driven sectors
Expertise in go-to-market execution and shopper/retail marketing strategies
Demonstrated success in creating campaigns that blend storytelling with measurable commercial outcomes
Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-growth environments while building scalable processes
Leadership experience with a track record of mentoring and growing high-performing teams of at least 4 people
Proficiency in digital marketing tools, including Google Analytics, and strategies for enhancing brand awareness
An efficient and collaborative mindset, with a focus on achieving team success
Must have ability and interest to work onsite in Downtown Detroit daily
