The Director of Respiratory Care Program position is a 12-month full-time administrative position responsible for the organization, administration, periodic review, planning, and policy development, fiscal management, purchasing and maintaining laboratory equipment, evaluation, and general effectiveness of the Respiratory Care Program. The Program Director has input into the budget preparation and is responsible for maintaining accreditation of the program through the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). The position also involves preparing skilled healthcare professionals for the community, teaching courses offered in the department, and supervising adjunct instructors.
Job Responsibility:
Curriculum development and instruction (including hybrid and enhanced online courses, maintaining D2L websites for all courses within the Respiratory Care department)
Program administration (recruiting, advising and admitting students, scheduling, maintaining student files, developing program documents and policies/procedures, fiscal management, handling student issues, communicating with internal and external constituents, evaluating outcomes and program effectiveness.)
Maintain program accreditation through the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC), responsible for ICCB reviews
Hire, supervise, mentor and evaluate faculty.
Prepare budget, purchase equipment and supplies, maintain student lab and associated equipment.
Participate in academic and professional development, departmental and college committees.
Promote public relations for ECC and the Respiratory Care Program through community involvement.
Available to respond to internal and external customers, either in person or over the phone, during scheduled business hours.
Demonstrate independent judgement and discretion in making position related decisions.
Maintain confidentiality of privileged information and adheres to applicable privacy laws.
Demonstrate sensitivity, understanding and respect of diverse populations within the workplace.
Maintain an understanding of the work of colleagues to effectively provide backup and/or support for co-workers during times when the division is short-staffed or experiencing an increased volume of work.
Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes days/evenings/weekends as needed by the department.
Requirements:
Registered Respiratory Therapist credential (RRT)
Bachelor’s degree
Equivalent of four years full-time respiratory care clinical experience
Minimum of two years teaching experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience
