Job Description:

The Director of Research Nursing, Inpatient provides strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for all oncology-related clinical trials conducted within the inpatient setting and for some ambulatory research teams. This role oversees clinical research operations, ensures adherence to regulatory and ethical standards, and collaborates with physicians, investigators, and interdisciplinary staff to support protocol implementation, patient safety, and protocol integrity through high-quality data collection. The nurse director develops and maintains inpatient operational workflows, manages research resources, and drives quality improvement initiatives to enhance trial efficiency and patient outcomes. Additionally, this leader serves as a key liaison between ambulatory clinical research operations and inpatient oncology care, fostering a culture of excellence, compliance, and innovation in oncology research.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's and Master's degrees required, one of which must be in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse with 3-5 years' experience in health care, with progressive administrative experience
  • Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and or New Hampshire as applicable
  • Exceptional leadership involves mentoring and developing nursing staff, fostering team building, motivation, and a positive workplace culture, while effectively resolving conflicts and facilitating difficult conversations
  • Strong interpersonal skills enable building relationships across disciplines, with effective communication ensuring clear and compassionate information delivery to staff, patients, and families, and proficiency in facilitating meetings and discussions
  • Aligning nursing services with organizational goals requires managing multiple priorities, projects, and deadlines efficiently in a dynamic environment

Nice to have:

  • Advanced degrees in Nursing Administration, Healthcare Management, or related field are preferred
  • Oncology experience preferred
  • Clinical research experience preferred
  • Leadership, Oncology, or Research Nursing certification preferred (required to obtain within 2 years of employment)
