Town of Stoneham- DPW Director. Stoneham a suburban town of approximately 23,000 residents located 9 miles north of Boston in Middlesex County, Massachusetts. Situated at the intersection of I-93 and I-95, Stoneham provides convenient access to Boston and the North Shore, known for the Stone Zoo, and extensive access to the 2,500-acre Middlesex Fells Reservation. Stoneham currently is seeking to fill an upcoming opening for the full-time position of Director of Public Works. The Director of Public Works is regarded as a highly responsible leadership position reporting to the Town Administrator. The Director performs senior‑level management, administrative, supervisory, and technical work in planning, directing, and managing all operations of the Department of Public Works.
Job Responsibility:
Represents, interacts, and negotiates on behalf of the department at meetings within and outside the town
Develops and maintains effective working relationships with municipal, regional, state, and federal officials and agencies
Ensures compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and consent decrees
Leads crisis management efforts and develops solutions to emergencies involving infrastructure failures, weather events, and other unplanned incidents
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering or public administration in related field, seven to 10 years related experience, and/or combination of education and experience
Strong administrative, finance(budget preparation & oversight) and communication skills
