Job Description

The Director of Proposal Development is responsible for leading the development of complex, compliant, competitive, and compelling proposal responses that support business growth. This role serves as a strategic and hands-on proposal leader, partnering closely with sales, operations, and subject matter experts to manage the proposal process from kickoff through submission. This position supports executive-level presentations, responds to Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFIs), and ad hoc business opportunities, while also driving content quality, process consistency, knowledge retention, and proposal best practices.

Job Responsibility

  • Successfully manage the development of multiple compliant, competitive, cogent, and compelling proposals through effective collaboration across teams
  • Develop the proposal schedule, outline, compliance matrix, and Proposal Development Plan using Microsoft SharePoint
  • Provide insight and leadership to the proposal team and Capture Manager to determine author assignments and integrate win strategy, themes, and discriminators into proposal
  • Take ownership of the quality of the proposal for color reviews and final delivery by performing rigorous quality assurance checks on draft and final documents
  • Prepare and lead efficient Proposal Kickoff meetings and daily status calls, ensuring high-quality content and activities that adhere to the Proposal Development Plan
  • Manage the development of presentations, discussions, and proposal revisions while continuously seeking ways to improve process efficiency
  • Coordinate and support the production, reproduction, binding, and packaging in finalizing the proposal's submission and response processes
  • Participate in proposal strategy meetings to identify and document solutions, win themes, and discriminators
  • Ability to quickly learn AFV/ADC point-of-sale systems and sales strategies to develop clear, compelling proposal content that communicates their functionality, value, and relevance to clients
  • Collaborates closely with the sales team and internal Subject Matter Experts to produce and deliver technically accurate, high-quality, on-time responses for Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Requests for Information (RFI's), and AdHoc proposals
  • Design and develop customized sales materials, including whitepapers and PowerPoint presentations that are consistent with branding guidelines

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10+ years of proposal management experience, with 5 years of supervisory experience
  • Extensive experience in professional business writing and communications (experience in the consulting industry is a plus)
  • Strong prioritization skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks, coordinate shifting priorities, and respond to short-term deadlines, while maintaining close attention to detail
  • Significant experience in professional business experience creating, designing, and constructing PowerPoint presentations
  • APMP Certification is preferred
  • Travel Requirement: Minimum of 20% (including to headquarters in Syracuse, NY)
