We are looking for a Director of Product Management to lead product strategy and execution for lakeFS as we expand our role in the modern data, AI, and infrastructure ecosystem. As Director of Product Management, you will own core product direction for lakeFS, working closely with engineering, go-to-market, customers, and the open-source community. This is a highly technical product leadership role for someone who can understand deeply how data engineers, data scientists, platform teams, and infrastructure leaders build and operate data-intensive systems. You will be responsible for identifying the most important customer problems, translating them into a focused product strategy, and driving execution from discovery through launch and adoption.
Job Responsibility
Define and drive product strategy, roadmap, and prioritization for lakeFS (both Open Source and Enterprise)
Work directly with customers and users to understand workflows, pain points, buying drivers, and technical requirements
Partner closely with engineering to shape technically sound, high-impact product solutions
Collaborate with sales, marketing and customer success on positioning, launches, enablement, and adoption
Develop a deep understanding of the data infrastructure, AI tooling, and developer tooling landscape
Own product requirements, trade-off decisions, success metrics, and post-launch learning
Represent the product externally with customers, partners, community members, and technical audiences
Help evolve lakeFS from a strong technical product into a category-defining platform
Requirements
Significant product management experience in a technical B2B software company, preferably in databases, data infrastructure, AI tooling, developer tools, cloud infrastructure, or related systems
Strong technical depth, with the ability to reason about architecture, APIs, distributed systems, data platforms, and developer workflows
Previous hands-on software development experience
Proven ability to work effectively with engineering teams on complex technical products
Experience owning product strategy and roadmap for infrastructure or platform products
Strong customer discovery skills, including the ability to distinguish urgent customer needs from one-off requests
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially with technical audiences
Ability to operate independently in a fast-moving startup environment
Located on the U.S. East Coast or able to work substantial East Coast hours
Nice to have
Experience with data lakes, object storage, Apache Iceberg, Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Kubernetes, or cloud-native data platforms
Experience with open-source software, developer communities, or commercializing open-source infrastructure
Familiarity with MLOps, AI data pipelines, model development workflows, or unstructured data management
Experience working with both self-serve developer adoption and enterprise sales motions
Prior leadership experience as a senior PM, group PM, director, or equivalent product owner for a major product area
