As the Director of Product Design, reporting to the Head of Design you’ll lead and grow our world-class design team, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and Executive leadership to shape the vision, quality, and impact of design across the Phantom product ecosystem. This includes leading career growth and mentorship for the design team, fostering creative excellence, and championing strong design principles to consistently deliver high-quality work. Job Responsibility

  • Provide strategic design leadership across product areas, ensuring alignment with Phantom’s mission, product goals, and brand
  • Manage, mentor, and scale a team of high-performing product designers. Champion design excellence, accessibility, and simplicity across all platforms and user touchpoints
  • Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to shape the product roadmap, define user journeys, and identify new opportunities to improve Phantom’s experience
  • Elevate our design systems and operational processes to ensure consistency, quality, and scalability
  • Foster a culture of user-centered thinking, rapid iteration, and cross-team collaboration
  • Represent design in company-wide initiatives, executive reviews, and external engagements

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product design experience
  • Experience building and managing design teams
  • Track record of designing and shipping high-quality, mobile-first consumer products for millions of users at scale
  • Proven experience owning and leading the design of core product flows, not just auxiliary or supporting features
  • Strong product judgment and strategic thinking, with the ability to make design decisions that balance user needs with business goals
  • Extensive experience using data to inform and validate design decisions, including leveraging user research, analytics, and experimentation
  • Deep understanding of design systems, interaction design, and visual storytelling
  • Strong leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on design work when needed
  • Passion for mentoring and developing designers at all levels
