Job Description:

This senior leadership role is responsible for directing a pricing group to secure successful pricing outcomes for new drugs and manage price revisions. The director will lead strategic price negotiations with Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) , develop pricing strategies for pipeline products , and contribute to business planning by analyzing the healthcare and pricing environment. A key aspect of the position involves collaborating with internal departments , aligning with global pricing and market access teams , and building strong external relationships with MHLW officials and industry associations.

Job Responsibility:

  • Lead the pricing group, which includes supporting and developing team members' capabilities
  • Direct strategic price negotiations with the MHLW for the company's products and manage the preparation for these negotiations
  • Assess the price potential of pipeline products by working closely with the Market Access group
  • Collaborate with the Global Pricing & Market Access team to align on pricing strategy and gain global support when needed
  • Build and leverage strong relationships with MHLW officials and lead industry-wide discussions on pricing system reform through trade associations

Requirements:

  • Mandatory experience leading negotiations with the MHLW regarding new drug pricing
  • Previous work experience within a multi-national pharmaceutical company
  • A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Marketing, Science, Economics, or Pharmacy is required
  • Excellent knowledge of the healthcare business and National Health Insurance (NHI) pricing regulations in Japan
  • Fluency in Japanese and business-level English proficiency are mandatory
