The town of Grafton is accepting applications for the full-time position of Director of Planning and Community Development. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of current and long-range plans and programs for land use and development.
Job Responsibility:
Administering the operation of the Planning Department and its staff
Providing staff support for the Planning Board, Affordable Housing Trust, and other relevant Committees
Reviewing development and land use applications
Creating, maintaining and recommending relevant policies, regulations, and bylaws
Ensuring the implementation of planning studies, reports, initiatives, particularly the Comprehensive Master Plan
Researching, applying for, and administering grants and alternative funding opportunities
Presenting information during public forums, conducting site visits, and coordinating the work of professional consultants
Serving as a liaison between relevant stakeholders and the town, and serves as the town’s representative with state and federal Officials in applicable sectors
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in planning, political science, public administration, or a related field
Five to seven years of related experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, certifications, and experience
Knowledge of state and municipal regulations, bylaws, policies, programs, and operations
Knowledge of Geographic Information Systems
Must be able to keep accurate records
Strong oral and written communication skills
Able to work as part of a team
Excellent interpersonal skills
Able to deal with all clients with patience and tact
Able to work independently to ensure time-sensitive projects are completed
Nice to have:
American Institute of Certified Planners designation
